The proceeds from this race will benefit the Sexual Assault Crisis & Support Center and its fight to end sexual assault and support survivors through their healing journey.In Maine, one in 5 people will experience sexual violence in their lifetime. This shocking statistic has outraged many of us in our community. We have decided to take a stand against sexual violence by running or walking at this event in support of those survivors in our own home towns. Patriots Day Race for the Kids 5K & 5 Miler - Portland Company

Apr 15, 2017. Patriots Day Race for the Kids 5K & 5 Miler. All proceeds go to deserving high school seniors associated with Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maine. Your support will help award more college scholarships to Maine teens who greatly need grant support to help build great futures after high school. In the Halley Challenge, the first male runner to beat a time of 23:30 + first female runner to beat a time of 27:50 win $1,000. Tech T-shirts given to the first 300 registered runners (for either course). All runners receive a free Sea Dogs ticket to a regular season game. Pizza, fruit, Oakhurst beverages and Poland Spring water, awards, raffle prizes and more will take place post race at the Portland Clubhouse on Cumberland Avenue. Prizes awarded to age groups for male and female: 12+under, 13-14, 15-16, 17-18, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+. For more than 100 years, the Clubs have provided youth development programs for young people in Southern Maine. Our Clubhouses are safe places to learn, have fun + develop skills and interests that last a lifetime. Kids who need us most can go to their neighborhood Club for academic help, sports and recreation or a much needed healthy meal or snack. Runners and walkers will be hitting streets and trails in Portland for the Urban Runoff 5K and walk to raise awareness of water pollution and raise money to support clean water education in local schools. The date of the Urban Runoff was chosen to coincide with Earth Day and spring's "first flush" of stormwater pollution. The Urban Runoff will lead into the Green Neighbor Family Fest.
