Maine Vacations - Official Tourism Resources

Official State of Maine WebsiteMaine.Gov

There is a lot of very good information on the State of Maine site about the details of planning a vacation in Maine. Unfortunately, the State seems to have abandoned the effort to pull it all together into a single landing page, leaving it up to the user to search through Maine.Gov to find specific travel information (like biking & fishing laws, park rules & regulations and much more). As well, the State has deleted, from Maine.Gov, links to private sites such as Maine.Info, notwithstanding the wealth of additional tourism assistance these sites provide. Instead, the most prominent link on Maine.Gov directs visitors to its separate taxpayer-funded tourism entity, Visit Maine (below, and which itself often bounces back to Maine.Gov).

Maine Office of TourismVisitMaine

Official website of the Maine Office of Tourism. Visit Maine is a glossy travel planning resource where you'll learn about Maine's eight tourism regions, and a collection of tourist activities. While an excellent site, not all venues post their events to it and not every travel idea is included. So it would serve you well to check multiple sites, such as the many Chamber of Commerce sites that Maine.Info lists, for a fuller picture of things to do and places to see in Maine.
